Assistant Principal: Pre-K- 4th Grade

jonesDear Families, Parents and Friends,

I would like to start out by saying, “It’s good to be back!” If you don’t know who I am, let me begin by introducing myself! My name is Dr. Ja’Shanna Jones-Booker. I am your child’s PK-4 assistant principal! I am thrilled to welcome you back to the 2018-2019 school year and I am looking forward to meeting new faces, revisiting with familiar ones, as well as hearing all about your child’s summer adventures! For those of you who have not met me, I taught in Atlantic City for 11 years and have been in administration for the past six years.  My first four years were at Fairfield, I left briefly for a year and now I’m back!  I am very excited to work together to make this a fabulous new school year!

I  very much looking forward to watching the student’s stream off of the buses and out of cars and to have the hallways filled with the hustle and bustle that has been absent all summer. Old friendships are quickly rekindled and new friendships made. Students swap stories about summer and show off new backpacks and school supplies.

As much as I enjoy introducing myself via this website,  it is the face-to-face interactions that I value most.  So, please do not be alarmed when I stop to speak to you and hug your babies. The students and my children hate when I call them babies, but they really are simply that, OUR babies! While your scholars are under my supervision, I like to think of them as investments for OUR future! Please know that the same good things you want for your scholars, I want for your scholars as well. The Jaguars of Fairfield Township School “Will climb the Mountain of Success!”

I am the proud mother of Michael (13) and Michele-Grace (12). I understand personally all of the dreams, goals, and ambitions that WE parents have for OUR children.  With that being said, please know that I have an open door policy, and welcome any opportunity to meet with you. I am looking forward to our collaboration in providing a safe and nurturing environment as well as tackling a challenging and diverse curriculum. We got this! If your student is struggling we will support them and if your student is not academically struggling we will ensure that they are challenged!

Additionally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to our custodial and technology staff. They worked diligently throughout the summer to clean and prepare the school. Many facility updates from structural to technological took place and are continuing to happen as we speak!

All teachers and support staff have spent hours preparing materials, creating child-centered classrooms, and reviewing assessment data to prepare and support your child throughout the year. The rooms look amazing! Secretarial and office staff have registered new students, put together information packets to be sent home with all students, and organized new materials.

I would also like to extend a special welcome to our incoming Pre- Kindergarten students who are new to our school.  The new preschoolers are always a welcome addition to our school family. As you settle in, you will be receiving flyers, memos, letters, and newsletters from the school office and the classroom teachers.
