Assistant Principal : PreK – 4th Grade

Greetings Fairfield Township Community Parent, Guardians, Caregivers and Residents.

My name is Josh Hedgeman, Assistant Principal at Fairfield Township School. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the staff, students, parents and community at large. I am eager to begin partnering with all community stakeholders in making Fairfield Township School the best it can be. Moreover, I look forward to developing strong and deep relationships with parents, staff, and students. This is consistent with my personal philosophy on education which states:

“There is no significant learning without significant relationship.”

I describe myself as hardworking, enthusiastic, innovative, creative, charismatic, and fun-loving. I believe that all leaders are servants whose job is to provide resources, opportunities and an environment for their constituents to grow collectively and individually. With that, I commit myself daily to achieving this end.

Professionally, I began my teaching career in 1994 at Pittsgrove Township Middle School as an 8th grade Social Studies Teacher. I also taught 3rd grade at Maurice River Township Elementary. It is my belief that sports and other extra-curricular activities are an excellent platform to teach character traits and life skills. I have been involved in some type of coaching or mentorship of students for over 20 years. This also includes being an instrumental/vocal instructor for 30 years. Each professional avenue has given me an opportunity to make an impact on young men and women.

Personally, I am married to my lovely wife Tammie. Our union has blessed us with three beautiful children (Jocelyn, Josh Jr., Josiah). I am the youngest of six children from parents Mercer and Audrey Hedgeman. Education is a lifelong endeavor. Every hobby, activity, or event I engage in (there are many I like to do) is an opportunity to learn and become a better person.

It is my belief that every student can learn and display growth as long as a safe environment and high expectations are given. I know that the Fairfield Staff is committed to providing these to all students. I’m so excited to begin this journey with you. Communication is critical to success so feel free to contact me.
