William Turner, a New Jersey native, has sixteen years in education, His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing with a minor in African-American Studies (Stockton University), a Master’s degree in Special Education (Wilmington University), and administrative certifications attained from the New Jersey Expedited Certification for Educational Leadership (NJEXCEL) program.
After beginning his educational career in Vineland as a youth development specialist for a school-based youth service program, Mr. Turner made the decision to become a teacher and serve the parents and students of Bridgeton Public Schools. He taught Special Education at Bridgeton High School for three years before moving to Indian Ave Elementary as the 4th Grade Teacher and Hope Academy as a Resource Room teacher. Mr. Turner found his home in the district, teaching 4th grade where he has excelled in the position for the last 7 years. In his role as a Teacher, he took on many leadership responsibilities that included facilitating collaborative planning with teachers, analyzing and organizing district data, organizing and facilitating school-wide professional development, creating parent action workshops for parents, and leading teachers in the utilization of online resources. He served as a coach for multiple sports at the high school and junior high levels (Basketball and Track).
Ultimately, Mr. Turner’s success as a teacher earned him the honor of Teacher of the Year at Buckshutem Road Elementary School in 2014-2015. On a personal note, Mr. Turner serves as a youth minister who is actively engaged in community organizations and initiatives. He was recently inducted into Stockton University’s Athletic Hall of Fame for his career accomplishments in Men’s Basketball. Mr. Turner is joining a district with accomplished students, faculty and administration who are committed to Pursuing Academic Excellence. He is also the father of two remarkable children (Whitley and William) and is married to his lovely wife (Gerri).
