Dear Parents,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 2017-2018 academic school year.  I am equally excited to announce that our unconditional desire to promote quality instruction, self-esteem, socio-emotional, and behavioral development for all students while staying committed to embracing old-school values shall become top priorities.  Of course, the idea of students achieving high academic standards will still firmly remain as part of our mission statement.

As we embark on this journey, please know the after-school programs will continue to flourish.  In fact, we are expanding our after-school from two days to four days a week.  Everyone should take great comfort in knowing concentrated efforts to elevate the literacy and math levels of all students will remain a dominant focus.  In support of this effort, we have strategically put in place wrap-around supports that include a full-time guidance counselor, social worker, director of student services, literacy coach, math coach, reading interventionist, and two assistant principals.

In a collaborative effort, the strong pledge to create student leaders is stronger than ever.  With everyone’s support, we are going to embrace a set of new school cultural norms, which are: 1) school pride, 2) education is sacred, 3) no one has the right to hurt another person, 4) we respect one another, and 5) we will never behave in a manner that will discredit ourselves, our team, or Fairfield Township School District.  These new norms will help move our school forward.

Unquestionably, I see value in embracing a shared-vision approach, working together, and cultivating school community relationships rooted in respect and trust.  In this manner, striving to also foster a school climate anchored in professionalism is worthy of parallel importance.  Ultimately, I am deeply devoted to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students.  Above all, I believe students need to experience school success within a safe learning environment.

In light of the above, I am 100% confident this will be the best year ever.  As the school leader, I look forward to your support and cooperation.

Respectfully Yours,

Dr. Michael Knox
